Searching for “shockwave therapy NHS” in London?
Hospital-based shockwave treatment is not necessarily NHS-funded. In MDC’s recent enquiries with hospitals, the shockwave appointments discussed were offered as paid services. These enquiries do not establish availability across every NHS service, so funding should not be assumed from a hospital listing.
MDC offers private focused shockwave therapy at 73 Baker Street. Contact us directly for appointment options, suitability requirements and fees.
Ask MDC About Private TreatmentWhat is focused shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy uses acoustic pulses delivered through the skin to a selected treatment area. It does not involve surgery or injections. The aim depends on your diagnosis and may include reducing pain or supporting erectile function in suitable patients.
At MDC, treatment starts with confirming suitability and agreeing realistic goals. Results and the strength of evidence vary between conditions; a course is not a guarantee of improvement.
Two clear treatment pathways at MDC
Persistent tendon and heel pain
Ask about assessment for Achilles or patellar tendinopathy, plantar heel pain, tennis or golfer’s elbow, and selected shoulder tendon problems.
MDC’s MSK pathway requires a referral letter from your doctor or physiotherapist. Shockwave may form part of a plan that also includes rehabilitation and activity advice.

Focused shockwave may help selected men with blood-flow-related ED. It may also be discussed for Peyronie’s pain or CPPS after assessment; the treatment goals differ.
Contact MDC directly to arrange a suitability review. A urology consultation may be recommended.

Shockwave therapy: quick answers
Can I book privately at MDC?
Yes. Contact our team directly. We will explain the assessment and referral requirements for your condition before treatment is booked.
Is MDC’s shockwave service NHS-funded?
MDC’s service described here is private and separately charged. We confirm the proposed fees before you agree to treatment.
Do I need a GP referral?
For MSK shockwave, provide a doctor or physiotherapist referral letter. For men’s health, you can contact MDC directly for a suitability assessment.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the condition and recommended course. Ask for assessment costs, treatment fees and any follow-up charges together.
How many sessions will I need?
Your clinician recommends a schedule based on your diagnosis and response. Agree when progress will be reviewed before starting.
Is shockwave comfortable?
You may feel discomfort during treatment and temporary soreness afterwards. Tell your practitioner how it feels so they can respond appropriately.
Can I return to work or exercise?
Many patients can continue everyday activities. Exercise restrictions depend on the condition and treatment; follow your individual aftercare advice.
What happens after my course?
Review your symptoms and goals with your clinician. MDC staff can help arrange follow-up or further assessment if the plan needs to change.
Your MDC pathway: enquire, assess, treat, review
Tell us your concern
WhatsApp 07495 970109 with a routine appointment enquiry. Our team will explain what information or referral letter is needed.
Confirm the right approach
Your clinician reviews your diagnosis, previous care and medical history, including medicines, recent injections and relevant risks.
Agree your course
Discuss the likely benefits, limitations, alternatives and costs. Treatment settings and appointment length depend on your condition.
Measure your progress
Agree aftercare, a review date and how improvement will be assessed. Lack of progress should prompt reassessment.

Suitability and aftercare
Shockwave is not suitable for everyone. Tell your clinician about blood-thinning medicines, pregnancy, infection, recent injections, cancer, implanted devices or a recent injury. Do not stop prescribed medication without advice.
Possible effects include soreness, redness and bruising. Tendon treatment carries a small risk of tendon or fascia injury. Follow the activity instructions provided and seek urgent assessment for sudden severe pain or loss of function.
Suspected fractures, open wounds and diabetic foot problems require their own clinical pathway rather than routine shockwave booking.
