If you're concerned about your fertility, trying to conceive, or unsure which fertility tests are right for you, our clinician-led Pre-Semen Analysis Assessment provides personalised guidance before any testing takes place.
During this 30-minute private assessment, we'll review your medical history, fertility background, lifestyle, and potential risk factors that may affect sperm health. Following the assessment, we'll recommend the most appropriate investigations based on your individual circumstances.

What We'll Assess
During your Assessment, we perform a structured fertility assessment covering:
Fertility & Reproductive History
We'll discuss:
- How long you've been trying to conceive
- Previous pregnancies
- Fertility treatment history
- Partner's fertility investigations
- Previous IVF or ICSI treatment
- Miscarriage history
Previous Semen Testing
We'll review:
- Previous semen analysis results
- Sperm count
- Motility
- Morphology
- DNA Fragmentation results
- Any previous fertility investigations
If you've had previous reports, you're welcome to bring them with you.
Medical & Reproductive Health
We'll discuss medical conditions that may influence fertility, including:
- Diabetes
- Thyroid disorders
- Previous infections
- Varicocele
- Testicular injuries
- Surgery
- Hormonal conditions
- Current medications
- Testosterone or anabolic steroid use
Lifestyle Assessment
Lifestyle plays an important role in sperm health. We'll review:
- Smoking
- Alcohol
- Recreational drugs
- Exercise
- Sleep
- Diet
- Occupational exposures
- Heat exposure
- Cycling
- Sauna use
- Stress levels
Sperm DNA Fragmentation Risk Factors
Where appropriate, we'll assess whether additional investigations such as a Sperm DNA Fragmentation Test may be beneficial based on recognised risk factors, including:
- Previous abnormal semen analysis
- Age
- Varicocele
- Smoking
- Recurrent miscarriage
- IVF failure
- Long-term infertility
- Medical history
Preparing for Semen Testing
We'll also discuss:
- Abstinence period
- Recent illness
- Recent antibiotics
- Sample collection
- Home vs clinic collection
- How to obtain the most accurate results
Following Your Assessment
At the end of your assessment, your clinician will explain which investigations are most appropriate for you. Depending on your individual circumstances, this may include:
- Standard Semen Analysis
- Advanced Semen Analysis
- Sperm DNA Fragmentation Test
- Male Fertility Blood Tests
- Hormone Profile
- Follow-up fertility investigations where appropriate
Please note that this assessment does not include any laboratory testing. If you decide to proceed with testing, separate charges will apply.
