Cellular Energy, Antioxidant & Wellness Support
Support your wellness with CoQ10 IV Therapy at Marylebone Diagnostic Centre. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a naturally occurring compound involved in mitochondrial energy production and antioxidant defence. Scientific interest in CoQ10 spans energy metabolism, reproductive health, cardiovascular health, fatigue, migraine and healthy ageing.
Coenzyme Q10, commonly called CoQ10, is naturally present throughout the body. It is concentrated within mitochondria - the structures responsible for producing much of the energy used by our cells.
CoQ10 participates in the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the body's fundamental source of cellular energy. It also acts as an antioxidant, helping protect cells from oxidative stress. These biological roles explain why CoQ10 continues to be studied across several areas of health and wellness.
Fertility & Reproductive Health
Male Fertility
Sperm cells require substantial energy for movement and are vulnerable to oxidative stress. Research into CoQ10 supplementation in men has reported potential improvements in semen parameters, particularly sperm motility, with some studies also reporting improvements in concentration and morphology.
CoQ10 has also been investigated for its role in antioxidant defence within the male reproductive system. This has made it an area of interest for men exploring reproductive health alongside investigations such as semen analysis and sperm DNA fragmentation testing.
Most clinical fertility research has investigated oral CoQ10 supplementation rather than intravenous CoQ10. CoQ10 IV Therapy should therefore not be considered a treatment for male infertility.
Female Fertility
Egg cells have high energy requirements, and mitochondrial function is an important area of reproductive research. CoQ10 has been investigated for its potential role in mitochondrial function and ovarian antioxidant protection, including in the context of age-related reproductive changes and assisted fertility treatment.
Research has explored CoQ10 supplementation in women undergoing treatments such as IVF and ICSI, with encouraging findings reported in selected groups. However, these studies predominantly concern oral supplementation. MDC does not claim that CoQ10 IV Therapy improves egg quality, treats infertility, or increases IVF or pregnancy success.
Every cell requires energy to function. CoQ10 plays an important role in the mitochondrial processes used to generate ATP. This relationship with cellular energy production is one reason CoQ10 is popular within wellness programmes focused on energy, cellular function and healthy ageing.
Normal metabolism, lifestyle and environmental factors can contribute to free-radical formation. When free-radical activity exceeds antioxidant defences, oxidative stress can occur. CoQ10 forms part of the body's natural antioxidant defence system, and its combination of mitochondrial and antioxidant roles has made it a continuing focus of scientific research.
Because CoQ10 plays an important role in mitochondrial energy production, researchers have also investigated its potential relationship with fatigue and cognitive wellbeing.
Clinical studies of oral CoQ10 and ubiquinol supplementation have reported encouraging findings relating to fatigue, including research involving people with chronic fatigue conditions. Some studies have also explored cognitive fatigue, concentration and other aspects of cognitive function. A large analysis of randomised clinical trials found that CoQ10 supplementation was associated with an overall reduction in fatigue compared with placebo.
This has contributed to interest in CoQ10 among people focused on energy, mental performance and general cognitive wellness. However, these studies predominantly investigated oral CoQ10 or ubiquinol, sometimes alongside other nutrients, rather than intravenous CoQ10. MDC does not claim that CoQ10 IV Therapy treats chronic fatigue syndrome, improves memory or treats cognitive impairment.
The heart has high energy requirements and contains large numbers of mitochondria. CoQ10 has therefore been extensively researched in relation to cardiovascular health and heart muscle function. Clinical research has investigated supplementation alongside standard medical treatment in conditions such as heart failure, while other studies have explored its potential influence on blood pressure and cardiovascular function.
CoQ10 IV Therapy at MDC is not a treatment for heart disease or high blood pressure. Patients with cardiovascular disease should continue prescribed treatment and remain under the care of their doctor or cardiologist.
CoQ10 has been investigated as a nutritional supplement for people who experience migraines. Some clinical studies and systematic reviews suggest supplementation may help reduce certain aspects of migraine frequency or duration in some people, although findings are not completely consistent. Most available research concerns oral supplementation rather than IV CoQ10, and IV therapy should not replace medical investigation or prescribed migraine treatment.
Oxidative stress is one of many factors associated with ageing and environmental effects on the skin. Because CoQ10 has antioxidant properties and is involved in cellular energy processes, it has attracted interest within skin health, beauty and healthy-ageing research. Patients interested in healthy ageing may choose to include CoQ10 within a broader wellness approach alongside nutrition, hydration, exercise, sleep and appropriate skincare.
At MDC, we generally offer CoQ10 IV Therapy once or twice per week for patients who wish to incorporate it into their wellness routine. There is no universally established IV CoQ10 treatment course that everyone needs to follow. Some patients may choose regular sessions for a period of time, while others may prefer occasional treatments. Ongoing treatment can be discussed with our clinical team during your visits.
Having an interest in one of these areas does not mean CoQ10 IV Therapy is medically indicated or that it will produce a particular clinical outcome.
CoQ10 IV Therapy can form part of a wider approach to understanding and supporting your health. At MDC, you can also access comprehensive health testing through our in-house laboratory.
CoQ10 IV Therapy is offered as part of MDC's complementary wellness services and is not intended to diagnose, prevent, treat or cure disease or replace appropriate medical care.
Much of the clinical research discussed in relation to fertility, cardiovascular health, fatigue, migraine and other areas has investigated oral CoQ10 supplementation rather than intravenous CoQ10. Findings from oral supplementation studies should not be interpreted as demonstrating the same clinical effects from IV treatment.
Individual responses may vary and no particular health, fertility, cosmetic or treatment outcome can be guaranteed. Patients receiving treatment for an existing medical condition should continue prescribed treatment and follow the advice of their treating clinician. All patients must complete MDC's required pre-treatment safety checks before receiving IV therapy.
Whether you are interested in cellular energy, antioxidant support, reproductive wellness, fatigue-focused wellness or incorporating CoQ10 into your wider health routine, our team is here to make your treatment straightforward and comfortable.
