Understanding the genetics behind fertility and future family health

Genetics can play an important role in both male infertility and the risk of passing certain inherited conditions to children. At Marylebone Diagnostic Centre (MDC), London, we offer advanced genetic testing for individuals and couples who want to investigate unexplained fertility problems, understand potential genetic causes of abnormal semen parameters, or assess their risk of passing inherited conditions to their future children.

Genetic screening cannot eliminate all genetic or reproductive risk. A negative carrier screening result significantly reduces the likelihood of carrying the conditions investigated but does not exclude all genetic disorders. The clinical significance of genetic findings can vary and some results may require interpretation by an appropriately qualified clinician or genetic counsellor.
