Recurrent Miscarriage Testing

Clinical clarity for your reproductive journey. Specialized testing to identify treatable factors associated with recurrent miscarriage and support your future pregnancy planning.

Recurrent miscarriage is commonly defined as three or more consecutive pregnancy losses, although investigation may sometimes be considered after two or more miscarriages depending on individual clinical circumstances and risk factors.

Identifying possible underlying causes can help guide further clinical management and support future pregnancy planning. At Marylebone Diagnostic Centre, we offer two blood test profiles designed to investigate medical factors that may be associated with recurrent miscarriage. These profiles assess a range of autoimmune, hormonal, metabolic, and nutritional markers that may influence reproductive health and early pregnancy outcomes.

Recurrent Miscarriage Profile

£499
Turnaround: 10 working days Preparation: Fasting required

Overview

This profile is designed to investigate some of the most common medical factors associated with recurrent miscarriage, including autoimmune conditions, thyroid dysfunction, metabolic health, and general haematological markers.

A key component of this profile is screening for Antiphospholipid Syndrome, an autoimmune condition associated with abnormal blood clotting and recurrent pregnancy loss. The profile also evaluates thyroid function and general health markers that may influence fertility and early pregnancy outcomes.

This targeted panel can help identify potentially treatable conditions that may affect implantation, placental development, or early pregnancy maintenance.

Testing Parameters

Antiphospholipid Antibody Screening

These tests assess for antibodies associated with Antiphospholipid Syndrome, which may increase the risk of blood clot formation and pregnancy complications.

  • Lupus Anticoagulant
  • Anticardiolipin Antibodies (IgG & IgM)
  • Beta-2 Glycoprotein I Antibodies (IgG & IgM)

Thyroid Function Tests

Thyroid hormones play an important role in reproductive health and fetal development. Thyroid dysfunction has been associated with fertility issues and pregnancy loss.

  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
  • Free T4
  • Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO)

Metabolic & General Health

These tests provide an overview of metabolic health and general blood parameters.

  • HbA1c
  • Full Blood Count (FBC)

Comprehensive Recurrent Miscarriage Profile

£999
Turnaround: 10 working days Preparation: Fasting required

Overview

The Comprehensive Recurrent Miscarriage Profile includes all tests from the standard Recurrent Miscarriage Profile, with additional markers assessing nutritional status, hormonal balance, inflammation, and iron stores.

This extended panel provides a broader assessment of factors that may influence reproductive health, implantation, and early pregnancy development.

Testing Parameters

Antiphospholipid Antibody Screening: Screening for antibodies associated with Antiphospholipid Syndrome, which may affect placental blood flow and pregnancy outcomes.

Thyroid Assessment: Evaluation of thyroid function and thyroid autoimmunity.

Metabolic & Blood Health: HbA1c and Full Blood Count (FBC).

Nutritional Markers

  • Folate
  • Vitamin B12
  • Vitamin D
  • Ferritin

Hormonal Profile

Hormonal markers that may influence ovulation and reproductive health, including screening relevant to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

  • Prolactin
  • PCOS Profile

Inflammatory Marker

  • C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
Choosing the Right Profile: If you are unsure which profile is most appropriate, our clinical team can help guide you based on your medical history and testing requirements.
